Entries open for EPSON International Pano Awards

The fourth Epson International Pano Awards is dedicated to the art of panoramic photography. Advances in digital photography and softare such as PTGui and Adobe Photoshop has resulted in an explosion in image stitching, especially in the panoramic format. Panoramic film photography also remains alive and well.

The Epson International Pano Awards showcases the work of panoramic photographers worldwide and is the largest competition for panoramic photography.

The 2012 competition saw 3853 images submitted from 893 photographers in 55 countries. View the galleries of 2012 winners and top 50 in each category here. View results from 2011 here. View the exhibition at The Digital Show, Melbourne, May 2012 here.

The 2013 competition is now open for all professional and amateur photographers with a record combined prize pool of approximately US $35,000 in cash and prizes!

Prizes include an Epson Stylus Pro 7900 printer, an Epson Stylus Pro 4900 printer, and an Epson EB-1775 Ultra-slim Projector!

A timelapse video of building the world\'s largest ship

Discovery Channel in collaboration with Maersk, the world\'s largest operator of container ships have recorded a time-lapse video of the largest ship in the world being built. This video is a composite of 50,000 photographs taken over three months.

An astronaut\'s view of the Earth in time-lapse

In a tribute to the International Space Station Program and Dr. Don Pettit (NASA Astronaut and ISS Astrophotographer), Christopher Malin has produced a short film featuring time-lapse photography of the view of Earth from ISS. An Austrian national and a photography enthusiast Christopher has also explained the making of the video here

Happy 125th anniversary National Geographic

The National Geographic Society is celebrating its 125th anniversary this month. First published as scientific journal in October 1988, the journey to becoming one of the most widely read magazines on the planet has been filled with many spellbinding pictures.
