|  | I am an Assistant Professor at IIT Kanpur. Photography is my hobby. I learned photography during my college days about 20 years ago, but started practicing photography seriously 10 years back. I have no preference for specific genre of photography. I pretty much shoot whatever catches my eye.
I won the Nikon-Better Photography Photographer of the Year 2008 which is the only national contest that I have won so far. But I have won many international competitions. The following is a list of the major ones.
1. Category winner in "Altered Images" in Smithsonian Magazine 5th Annual Contest, 2008.
2. 1st prize winner in Digital Art category in Photo and Video Contest on Images of Health and Disability 2006-2007 organized by World Health Organization (WHO) with Special Theme "Health and Environment".
3. 2nd prize winner in Imaging Resources Photo's of the Day Contest, January, 2007.
4. Grand prize winner in "Absolut Click" photo contest, 2005 by American Photo magazine, Nikon and AbsolutTM.
5. Photographer of the year 2005 and 2006 by the School of Photography.
6. Grand prize winner in Digital Photography category in Ritzcamera.com "Big Print Photo Contest - Capture your World."
7. Grand prize winner in Apogee Photo Magazines bi-monthly photo contest on the themes "Mothers", July 2005 and "What's in Your Kitchen", March 2006.
8. Grand Prize winner in Popular Photography and Imaging magazine's "Your best shot" photo contest, May 2004.
9. First prize winner in American Heroes category in Assignment America photo contest, 2004.
10. Grand prize winner in Agfanet.com Surfer's gallery photo contest, 2003.
11. Best of the month in bestfoto.com, April 2003, February 2006.
12. First and second prize winner in Betterphoto.com online photo contest, 2002-2005.
13. First, second and third prize winner in Digitalphotocontest.com online photo contest 2002-2004.

Who do you think is your biggest competitor?
Photography is an art and no one is my competitor. Someone winning does not mean I lost and vice versa.

10 years.
What does photography mean to you?
Letting people see through my eyes.
What does your ideal day with a camera look like?
Being surrounded by colorful activities on a partly cloudy day.
