This photograph is a bit unusual. If identical situations can be mimicked, I still may not be able to click this photograph again. This photograph cannot be duplicated. The synchronization of Greater and Lesser Flamingos flying in harmony and the timing was momentary and I was in a boat... managing the critical balance in the boat and simultaneously managing the correct time and exposure was a challenge. I felt that it deserved some appreciation. Who do you think is your biggest competitor? Satsangi N P - winner of November 2008 How long have you been a photographer? Photography was a passion since I was a child of 12 years ... sometimes dormant and sometimes exhibited, sometimes alone and sometimes with friends, sometimes in backyard garden and sometimes in unknown terrains ... But now I am into serious digital photography for last 2 years. What does photography mean to you? Father's dream was to see his son as a doctor and the same resulted in years of academics and subsequent corporate professionalism. During all these years, the passion for wildlife kept me motivated even with busiest schedules of all other professional pursuits... Whenever I could find an opportunity, I preferred spending time in nature's solitude and captured all its beauties in frames as I saw it. I have been nurturing wildlife photography as a serious hobby now. Associations, appreciations and awards helped me to further nurture my skills and dream bigger. My photography is purely for knowledge sharing and motivating myself to deliver better and better - no commercial interest at all. What does your ideal day with a camera look like? Early morning venture out with the back pack and camera - either alone or in a group.... getting lost in the wild for hours and capturing in frames whatever I can see, feel and appreciate. Why should the flock vote for your photo? The photograph is unique - as I said it can never be duplicated. I therefore, am optimistic to expect appreciation from the flock who can read the efforts put in ... however, apart from that I would acknowledge any appreciation as a motivation to deliver better and better. | |
