The Master Photographers Association (MPA), has announced the winners in the first round judging of the 2010 Kodak/MPA Wedding and Portrait Awards, sponsored by Photologic.

Victoria Ines Dobaño and Rodrigo Terren Toro from Escuela Argentina de Fotografía, Argentina, are the winners of the Student Focus Competition for the Sony World Photography Awards 2010.

From the 120 institutions initially selected to compete, 12 students were shortlisted from six institutions across six continents to take part in the final stage of the competition. The students’ challenge was to produce a series of six photographs that explored the notion of ‘Power’. The 12 students were given two weeks to complete the exercise within their local community. The 12 winning students and the overall winning university received a combined prize of €45,000 (Approximately Rs. 21,04,195) worth of digital SLR photographic equipment, courtesy of Sony.

Professional and amateur photographers around the world were invited to enter The EPSON International Photographic Pano Awards to compete for over $13,000 in cash and prizes.
The inaugural 2010 EPSON International Pano Awards is dedicated to the art of panoramic photography. Advances in digital photography and software such as PTGui and Adobe Photoshop have resulted in an explosion in the popularity of image stitching, especially in the panoramic format. Panoramic film photography also remains alive and well.

The inaugural competition was very well supported with 2,740 entries from 945 photographers in 79 countries. The overall winner was Bill Leigh Brewer of California, who also placed first in The Built Environment category of the Open competition.

The winners of ‘4 Seasons: Spring into Life’ competition have been announced. The competition saw photographers from all round the world submit their most stunning images. The overall winner is Colin Varndell who receives a £500 cash prize. All the finalists will receive a copy of ‘International Garden Photographer of the Year Collection 03’ published by David and Charles. They have also been awarded points which will be taken through to the judging of the main competition, International Garden Photographer of the Year (IGPOTY). First Place

Colin Varndell, Beech Leaves
Unified Color Technologies, the HDR Experts, have announced the cycle one winners of its Unified Color True Vision HDR Photo Contest. Winners will receive prizes including a Nikon D90 kit and products from, Gitzo, Lexar, Lowepro, X-Rite and Unified Color Technologies and are automatically entered to win a Grand Prize of a photo workshop through National Geographic Expeditions and a 15-inch MacBook Pro, to be determined by public vote later this year.
Unified Color sought out truly creative and technically beautiful HDR images to be judged by its panel of HDR experts and renowned photographers. The panel includes 20-year photo journalist and veteran outdoor photographer, Reed Hoffman; celebrated landscape and architecture photographer, David Palermo; and esteemed landscape photographer, Richard Sisk. First place winners in each category and each will receive a pro-level photography kit including Nikon D90 Kit with 18-105mm VR lens, a Lowepro Slingshot 202 AW case, a Gitzo carbon fibre tripod and a Lexar Professional Class 10 8GB memory card.
