This week Fotoflocker Partha shares the captivating silhouette of a cyclist.

And here is why this is Partha’s favourite shot:

“I believe the best shots cannot be taken every alternate day. It is the combination of passion, perfection, perseverance and luck. I went to the same place more than 10 times but never get the sky, the moment and the mood and every photographer knows that great moments never repeat. I know I cannot copy this one anymore and this photograph automatically entered to one of my favourite shots.”

Time of shoot: June 15th,2008

How it was taken: There is a story behind this shot. It was monsoon time in India. That day I anticipated somehow that I might get some wonderful sky. I left my office at about 05:30 pm, called one of my office mates to carry me on his motorcycle at the place (This place I discovered few months ago before taking the shot). It is about 15 mins ride and waited for another 15 min to get the best view of the place. I already observed the cyclist before he crossed the place, I knelt down to capture the full view of the cyclist. When he came at the right place, I clicked almost 6-8 frames in continuous mode and among those shots I liked this the most.

Technique used: Pre focused and pre composed, Waited for the moment and applied continuous shutter mode ,

Equipment used: Canon 30D with 17-40 f/4 L Canon USM lens.

Specifications: ISO-100,f/9 with 1/160 sec.

Post work: A little level correction.

Recognition: This one of my most appreciated photographs throughout the world. Award winner of Category winner in IndiaShot, 2009,India,Category Inspiration winner in Prestigio Photo Contest,2009, Gold medal Winner in Live Section of VIPC,2009 and definitely in POTM NOVEMBER 2010, WINNER of FOTOFLOCK to name a few. This photograph was exhibited in USA, Italy, Spain. The photograph was published in Popular Photography Magazine of New York in October 2009 and Weldon Owen, Incselected the photograph to publish partnered with Popular Photography magazine to create their first book titled, Get That Shot! Popular Photography..
