Advertising and glamour photographer Jatin Kampani shot the recent Shopper's Stop campaign in South Africa for Contract Advertising which has been handling the Shopper's Stop campaign for years now.

Jatin turned a childhood passion with photography to becoming a professional photographer in 1996. By 2006, he became the first Indian photographer whose work was selected to be on the cover of Lurzer’s Archive, a magazine that publishes works of excellence in advertising from around the world.
In keeping with the image of the Shopper's Stop campaigns over the years, this one too goes with the Black and White look of the brand and the edgy, uber cool image that the brand has portrayed over the years.

Says Jatin about this campaign which is his most recent personal favourite, "The Shopper's Stop campaign was shot in Cape Town, South Africa. We shot it over a period of three days. While the shoot went off pretty smoothly, we were running out of time and since it was an outdoor shoot, we were also running out of light."
Another issue was that they had allotted themselves just one day for the recce to find perfect locations for the shots they needed. "Since we knew exactly how we wanted the setup, it took us a while to find the perfect location."

The equipment used wasn't too complicated. It was primarily an outdoor shoot across multiple locations which meant everything had to be quick and easy to go. Says Jatin, "The photography equipment used by us was our basic light setup since most of it was shot in natural light".
Interestingly, this campaign did receive a lot of international acclaim and attention.

The Start Something New series, with the hitchhiker image, captioned Wear a Short Skirt, Save Fuel, was nominated to the Spiderawards amongst others.
